José Flores boasts a distinguished career as a violin soloist and chamber musician. He has been a professor of violin and viola at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi since 2006 and director of orchestral studies from 2012 until 2021. Notably, he holds a permanent guest faculty position at the Switzerland International Music Academy.
His orchestral engagements include serving as Concertmaster of the Kingsville Symphony, being a member of the Corpus Christi Symphony, and holding the position of principal second violinist with the Victoria Symphony. Flores is also a founding member of the Latin American Philharmonic in Houston, Texas, where he assumed the role of acting concertmaster during the 2022-2023 season. Dr. Flores recently moved to Austin, Texas where he was appointed Director of Instrumental Studies in the String Area at the Austin Community College.

He is a permanent guest faculty member at the Switzerland International Music Academy, holding degrees from the Aaron Copland School of Music in New York and earning his Doctorate in Musical Arts from the University of Arizona in 2006.
