SUMMARY:2025 Auditions
DESCRIPTION:Auditions for the Austin Civic Orchestra’s 2025-26 Season are on August 19. \nLocation is St. Martin’s Lutheran Church located at 606 W. 15th Street. \nThe ACO is looking for new members and substitutes for the following instruments: \n\nPrincipal Trombone\nPrincipal Percussion\nSection Violin\nSection Viola\nSection Cello\nSection substitute for\nViolin\nViola\nCello\nClarinet\nHarp\n\n\nRegister to audition here.\nYou will be assigned a unique number and your information passed along to the the judges to maintain anonymity.\nThe audition consists of three excerpts as listed in 2025 ACO Audition Repertoire List and 2-3 minutes of the solo of your choice.\nEach audition is blind and judged by at least two people.\nThe two judges will have a physical copy of the rubric to complete.\nWe ask that you provide a copy of the solo you are playing to the panel.\n\nAdmission to the orchestra and seating placement will depend on the results of the audition rubric and will will be announced by the Executive Director. \nPlease note:  The Austin Civic Orchestra is civic organization and as such all members are volunteers and pay dues to play with the Orchestra. The ACO rehearses on most Tuesday evenings at the Austin High School Band Hall for two hours.

DESCRIPTION:Purchase Tickets \nThe ACO will open the 2022-23 season with a chamber music concert in the Rollins Studio Theatre located in the Long Center for the Performing Arts. This intimate venue is perfect for showcasing the different sections of the orchestra: strings\, brass\, percussion\, and woodwinds. The program includes music by Alfieri\, Barber\, Berlioz\, Dvořák\, Grainger\, and Mozart. \nHeld on Saturday\, October 1\, come at 7:05 p.m. to listen to Assistant Conductor\, W.P. Sterneman’s preconcert talk.  The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Theatre. \nProgram: \n\nPercy Grainger/T. Higgins: Lincolnshire Posy for Brass Ensemble and Percussion\nJohn Alfieri: Fanfare for Tambourines\nHector Berlioz/H. Kamioka: Trio for Two Flutes and Harp from L’Enfance du Christ\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAntonín Dvořák: Serenade in Dm\, Op. 44 for winds\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSamuel Barber: Adagio for Strings\, Op. 11\nW.A. Mozart: Eine Kleine Nachtmusik\, K 525\n\nThe ACO continues to embrace the classics as well as explore the future. In order for classical music to truly realize its potential as a relevant and important art form it must embrace its future as much as its past. DESCRIPTION:Note: Due to the high temperatures expected in the Austin area on June 10 and June 11\, both performances of From Stage to Screen have been canceled for the safety of our musicians\, their equipment\, and the audience. \nJoin the Austin Civic Orchestra for this free concert at the Zilker Hillside Theater.
