Austin Civic Orchestra at the AISD Music Memory Event
The Austin Civic Orchestra is honored to serve once again as the performing orchestra for the AISD Music Memory event on April 25. Held at the Austin ISD Performing Arts Center, this beloved program brings together elementary students from across the district who have spent the year studying 16 musical selections in their classrooms.
Under the direction of Dr. W. P. Sterneman III, the orchestra will perform a short excerpt from each piece while student teams work together to identify the composition and composer. The energy in the hall is always remarkableāstudents listen with focus, cheer for their teams, and celebrate their shared musical knowledge.
To close the event, the ACO will present a full performance of an orchestral arrangement of Aaron Coplandās Hoe-Down, giving students a lively and memorable finale to their morning of music.
