The Austin Civic Orchestra partners again with The University of Texas at Austin for the 8th Texas Rising Stars concert at Bates Recital Hall. The winners of the Butler School of Music’s String Concerto Competition perform concerti accompanied by the orchestra.

This collaborative concert between the Butler School of Music and Austin Civic Orchestra was conceived by UT professor Brian Lewis and is funded in part by the David and Mary Winton Green Chair in String Performance and Pedagogy.

The orchestra will open the concert with the Overture to “West Side Story”.

  • Bernstein/Peress: Overture to “West Side Story”
  • Brahms: Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 77, Allegro non troppo, featuring Dongsub Jeoung on violin
  • Chausson: Poème for Violin and Orchestra, Op.25, featuring Nick Hammel on violin
  • Tchaikovsky: Violin Concerto in D major, Finale: Allegro vivacissimo, featuring Josh Liu on violin
