ACO Member Concerto Competition Winners

The ACO Member Concerto Competition took place on Tuesday, Nov. 4, at the Austin Community College Highland Campus’s Recital Hall. Three judges dedicated their evening to evaluating eight concertos performed by exceptionally talented current members of the Orchestra. Following their assessments, a unanimous decision swiftly designated two winners who will solo with the ACO in the 26-27 season.

  • Brigid Dever, a high school senior, is gearing up to audition for music school this coming spring. She will deliver a performance of the stirring Schelomo: Rhapsodie Hébraïque for Violoncello and Orchestra by Ernst Block.
  • Ethyn Evans, currently pursuing a DMA at the Butler School of Music and serving as a Tuba Instructor at both Blinn College and Austin Community College, is set to showcase the Concerto in F Minor for Bass Tuba and Orchestra composed by Ralph Vaughan Williams.

The ACO is proud to recognize these exceptional musicians, along with the performers of the other six concertos, as valued members of the Orchestra.
