Thank you for your interest in being an intern with the Austin Civic Orchestra.

Austin Civic Orchestra Mission

  • The Austin Civic Orchestra brings people together through the power of live orchestral music. We create welcoming, energetic concerts and hands‑on educational programs that make classical music accessible, inspiring, and fun for the Greater Austin community.
  • Since 1977, the ACO has been a place where students, emerging musicians, and seasoned players make music side by side. We perform six to eight concerts each season—everything from beloved symphonies to movie music and pops—at affordable, relaxed venues across Austin.
  • Beyond the stage, our youth and adult education programs help new musicians grow, connect, and discover their own artistic voice.

Whether you’re looking to play, volunteer, learn, or build experience in arts leadership, the ACO offers a vibrant community where your talents can make an impact.

Get Involved with the Austin Civic Orchestra

The Austin Civic Orchestra thrives because of the passion and commitment of its volunteers—and there’s a place for you here.

Interns can help at concerts by greeting guests, assisting with check‑in, selling tickets or merchandise, or supporting backstage logistics. It’s a great way to build experience in arts management, event operations, and community engagement.

If you’re a musician, we’d love for you to audition. The ACO is a volunteer ensemble where students, professionals, and community members make music together. Auditions are held each fall, and while some sections list openings, all interested players are encouraged to apply. Our members come from a wide range of careers & backgrounds, united by a shared love of music and performance.
