Donate
The Austin Civic Orchestra has grown over the past 40 years into one of the largest civic orchestras in the country, thanks to the support and dedication of our patrons. Our commitment to keeping ticket prices low has made classical music accessible to central Texas, which is how we want to keep it. Donations by individuals and corporations are vital to the operations of the Austin Civic Orchestra.

Audition
Auditions for the 2022-2023 season are now closed.
Here is our audition process:
If you are a musician 18 years or older, you would fill our our online interest form (not currently active). You would be assigned a unique number and your information passed along to the Music Director to maintain anonymity. The Music Director will decide who to invite to audition.
If invited to audition, you are expected to prepare 3-5 minutes of music from the classical repertoire which shows the qualities included in our audition rubric (i.e. tone quality, technical facility, musicianship, etc.).
Each audition is judged by at least two people: the corresponding section leader and the Music Director. If the Music Director is unavailable, a second section member or the Assistant Director will sit in. Auditions are blind.
The two judges will have a physical copy of the rubric to complete. We ask that you provide a copy of the music you are playing to the panel.
Admission to the orchestra and seating placement will depend on the results of the audition rubric and will will be announced by the Music Director. If there are no open chairs in a section, qualifying prospective members will be placed on the section’s substitute/call list.
Feedback from the completed rubric forms can be provided directly to an anyone who auditions on request.
The Austin Civic Orchestra is civic organization and as such all members are volunteers.

Amster Chamber Music Program
The annual Amster Chamber Music Program provides young musicians, eighteen years of age or less, from Austin and the surrounding area the opportunity to make music in a chamber ensemble and with the ACO. Competition prizes include college scholarships and the opportunity to perform at Austin Civic Orchestra concerts in the spring.
Composition Competition
The ACO believes in the cultivation of new music and giving up-and-coming composers the opportunity to have their music performed. Every two years, composers from around the world submit their compositions for the opportunity to have their piece performed by the ACO in one of their regular concerts and the cash prize of $1,000.
This contest is on hold until after the pandemic has passed. Please stay tuned for news of our next contest.
